Anyone played it and have any opinions on it? I just bought it for $1 at a garage sale, and I know its one of the better PC games of all-time. I just want to know what some of you who have played it think of it before I install it.
Is it only multiplayer or what? I don't really know anything about it because the game isn't in its original case. So give me a quick review on what exactly kind of game it is. I've always assumed its an RTS, but I don't know for sure.

no, it has a campaign mode
Basically it's like a lot of other games (probably because those other games are all molded in the form of StarCraft and the like): you start out with a base and a few innocuous building units, then you build barracks and make infantry, then larger units, etc. So yeah, pretty basic RTS. If you've ever heard of a "zerg rush," that's from this game. The idea being that you send a swarm of small zerg to catch somebody by surprise while they are building larger units.

Ah, I see. I'm going to go ahead and install this tomorrow after I watch Goodfellas. I'm pretty excited.
Who's the hero character in Warcraft II? They have stronger versions of grunts and what have you, but so does Starcraft.
I guess I was thinking of Warcraft III, but my sources do tell me that Warcraft II has heroes as well. Whether that's online or offline play, I couldn't tell you.
Nope, you're just wrong. They have NPC's just like Starcraft, but they don't do anything beyond what their base unit does, except have jacked up stats.

I'm wrong, yet the the Warcraft II Units page on the Warcraft wiki has a whole section for heroes. Funny how that works.
edit: I get what you're trying to say though, even though I'm not talking about NPC's at all.
If that's how you define a hero, then Starcraft does have heroes just like Warcraft II. I was arguing on the basis that Starcraft had no heroes. Either way, you're wrong.

I said that my sources say Warcraft II has heroes. Am I wrong? No, my sources say that Warcraft II has heroes. Therefore, I am right.
edit: And wikipedia is saying it on the basis that the mission ends if you lose specific characters (the "hero"). There may have been a few missions like that in Starcraft though, I can't really remember.
You were arguing that starcraft has no heroes, and by that merit, neither does Warcraft II. You can't have it both ways, either there are heroes in both or heroes in neither.
Also, there are. I've wasted a lot of time playing these games instead of doing schoolwork.

I said that sources told me that there are heroes in Warcraft II. I haven't played it. Try using reading comprehension.
My sources tell me you're a dumbass and you need to check your facts before you state them.
"You said this!"
"No, I didn't. Another group of people said that. A well-qualified group of people."
"Well, what you're saying doesn't make sense because you can't say that it doesn't make sense!"
"Again, I didn't say that. Someone else did."
"WHAT YOU'RE SAYING DOESN'T MAKE SENSE YOU'RE WRONG CHECK UR FACTS!"
I didn't make claims to any facts. Keep trying too hard.
I used to play Starcraft a bunch with my cousin and friends. It was SUCH an addicting game. I played for hours upon hours. If you've never played before, I suggest actually playing the campaign mode without cheats. Back then when I got bored, I'd just go in campaign mode, type in the cheats and own the computers. I still remember the cheats
I think these are some of them... if you want them. That's all I remember actually.
operationcwal - Build shit hella fast
blacksheepwall - Shows whole map
showmethemoney - minerals and gas
thereisnocowlevel - To skip the level
Playing with other people is the funnest though.
I prefer using Protoss over Zergs or Terran. Terran are the worst. Zergs are extremely weak in the first Starcraft though. They get better in Brood War. Protoss is OP.
