So its Cleveland vs Detroit for Charlie. We offering the MLE (5.6 mil), while the Pistons are offering 7-8 mil possibly. This could be interesting if we don't get Charlie V I would like to see us sign Matt Barnes or Brandon Bass and who knows maybe Ron Artest?
If I were Charlie V I'd take Cleveland's offer. Fuck the money, you get to play with Lebron. Heck, playing with Lebron will easily cover the money he'd miss out in Detroit with sponsorships and deals and shit.
I'm not all that excited about Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva if that's what it ends up being. I would guess other moves would be made so maybe those will make me feel better about things. I don't hate the moves. But, not all that thrilled either. I'm ok with Charlie Villanueva only because he's an upgrade over what the Pistons have now and there weren't any other big men that were overwhelmingly better choices. So, I guess I'm cool with it. I like Gordon as a player, but not for a starting 2-guard and not for the money he'll get. But, I'll roll with it. I've been through the Teal Era. I can live through this. Just hope it turns out better than I expect it will be.

What sponsorships does Zydrunas Ilgauskas have? He's played with LeBron the longest and does he even have any endorsements? How about Boobie Gibson or Wally Szczerbiak? Did they get deals and shit? Even Mo Williams, who's allegedly the next best player on the team. What sponsorship did he get this past year? I mean, he might have had some. But, if he did, I don't even think it's anything worth mentioning.
If I was Charlie and I knew for a fact that LeBron was going to re-sign with the Cavs, that it was 100% certain, then I would lean towards agreeing with you that I'd probably choose Cleveland unless the money difference was just something I couldn't ignore. If over the lives of the contracts, the difference would be $10 million or more, I'd probably have to go with the money. The MLE over five years would probably end up being worth around $35-38 million. If Detroit offered Charlie $45 million over 5 years, probably too much money to pass up.
Now the problem with choosing Cleveland isn't that it wouldn't be great to play with LeBron. It's the uncertainty whether he stays in Cleveland past next year or not. If Charlie takes the MLE for five years to join Cleveland and for whatever reason the Cavs don't win it all again next year and New York or somewhere else has too much lure for LeBron not to go, then Charlie is stuck with four more years with Mo Williams and Boobie Gibson and JJ Hickson and a rebuilding project. It's not much different than the previous few years at Milwaukee.
If I were Charlie, I'd take that into deep consideration before choosing Cleveland. But, if I could be pretty sure LeBron stays and the difference in money isn't too much, I'd agree that he should choose Cleveland over Detroit.
According to several league sources, the Cavaliers have been been in contact with Ron Artest.
LeBron James met with Artest on Tuesday night, according to the report.
The Rockets have had interest in Cavs free agent Anderson Varejao in the past, which opens up some possibilities of a sign-and-trade scenario - though the Cavs have said they want to re-sign Varejao.
Cavs after Ron Artest. Possibly a Varejao S&T for Ron.
PG- Mo Williams
SG- Delonte West
SF- Ron Artest
PF- LeBron James
C- Shaq
Pretty solid starting 5. the Cavs have talked about moving LeBron to the 4 now for a while should be interesting if we do get him.
JoeJam, you don't think LeBron could contain Pau or KG? IMO, he could do it. LeBron playing the 4 would serve as match-up problems for the other team as well.

Nope. The mismatch does work the other way too, but I do think both KG and Pau would take LeBron rather easily. Even if LeBron could do a decent job, defending the post and banging with bigger and stronger players takes more energy out of a player. The Cavs should be doing everything they can to ensure LeBron can stay fresh not only later in games but later in the season.
Also, if KG returns healthy, I think he could defend LeBron adequately, at least as well as most good small forward defenders.

Bigger (taller)? Yes. Stronger? I'm not so sure about that one.
