MY PREDICTIONS:
Ben Gordon back to the Bulls.
Allen Iverson re-united with Larry Brown in Charlotte.
Rasheed Wallace to the C's after talking to KG.
Marcin Gortat steps in for Yao Ming!
Hedo Turkoglu to the Portland Trailblazers.
Jason Kidd re-signining with the Mavericks.
In all honesty this is a pretty boring year for free agency, most teams are either over the cap or preparing for next July... But I think there are some guys out there like Charlie V and Ben Gordon that can be difference makers come this season and may put a few teams over the hump.
I think Celtics can end up possibly getting Rasheed Wallace & Grant Hill in this free agency. Anything can happen in FA, but I've been hearing all but good things about Rasheed Wallace coming to Boston.
Boston has emerged as the hot new entrant in the race for 'Sheed, with my colleague Ric Bucher from ESPN The Magazine crediting Kevin Garnett for not only convincing Celtics personnel chief Danny Ainge to enter the bidding but leading the Celtics' lobbying efforts.
Sheed is visiting Boston this week. I would welcome him.
Quote:
Rasheed Wallace’s camp was expecting calls early Wednesday from the Celtics, Cavaliers, and Spurs, among others. Kevin Garnett, a league source confirmed, was working behind the scenes to recruit ‘Sheed to Boston. Wallace’s attitude – which obviously can be both good and bad – and his ability to stretch the front court would be assets to the Cavs in their quest to fortify their pre-draft acquisition of Shaquille O’Neal. Wallace will have to factor in whether anyone comes forward with more than the mid-level exception. He also is said to be wary of the strong egos in the Boston locker room, not to mention the fact that the Rajon Rondo situation needs to be resolved. The Celtics cleared a spot for Wallace by not extending a qualifying offer to power forward Leon Powe, who is coming off major knee surgery and became an unrestricted free agent.
``I had contact with Stephon a week ago,'' Ainge said. ``He knows our situation. We will look at circumstances for (re-signing) him and he will have to look at the circumstances for himself also.
``We like Steph. We like what he brought to the table last year. We would not hesitate to bring Steph back.''

Do you really think he will? He proved he can be a starter and he put up the same numbers Boozer did while Boozer was out. I don't think Millsap accepts a role on the bench. Unless he could somehow start which seems extremely unlikely.
Boston getting Sheed wold just intensify my hate for that team so much more. I remember last year Sheed said if he got less than 10 mill a year he would just retire.

Those massively cut salaries will prove to be very useful

Oh well, I really wanted to re-sign Gordon for a contract 10 mil or less but I guess that's not happening. Looks like we're going to be players in the 2010 market at least.. we're gonna lose so much offense this season though... not even drafting a backup SG.. shakes my head.

I would love to see Sheed in Boston, simply because all of the Boston hypocrites would come out. On Detroit, he's the biggest douche bag in the world, but if he came to Boston, yanks would act like he's god. It would be hilarious.
If I were Detroit I'd go after Paul Milsap or David Lee with the big $$$ and sign a backcourt player for the lesser $$$$. Not the other way around (Gordon with the big $$$ and Charlie V with the less $$$. If you look at Detroit's front line they really need help. There's no point in having a bunch of good backcourt players if your best frontcourt player is Charlie V. They need a true post player.
I'd actually like to see us lose Gordon, see how we do and where our pick gets us, and then see how 2010 FA works out for us. I'd rather see some new faces in Chicago after thinking about it.
Sources say Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge and assistant director of basketball operations Leo Papile showed up on Rasheed Wallace’s(notes) doorstep just after midnight Wednesday to make their recruiting push.
“I know he is definitely considering playing for them,” one league source said.
The Celtics also have expressed interest in Toronto Raptors guard Anthony Parker(notes) .
Several league executives say that the Memphis Grizzlies are preparing a $40-50 million offer for New York Knicks restricted free agent David Lee(notes) . “There’s a great deal of interest in him, and a lot of teams are trying to be very creative,” his agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Wednesday morning.
Marcin Gortat’s agent is telling teams he already has a full midlevel offer. League executives think it is likely from the Houston Rockets, who met with Gortat after midnight on Wednesday.
