Coach K and Team USA will be together for four more years.
ESPN.com learned Tuesday that coach Mike Krzyzewski has given word to USA basketball officials that he will remain as coach of the national team at the 2010 world championship in Turkey and at the 2012 London Olympics.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a formal announcement will be made on the eve of the start of Team USA's minicamp later this month.
The story was first reported by The Boston Globe.
USA basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo has been lobbying Coach K for months to stay in the job he held when the Americans won the gold medal in Beijing last summer.
"With the success that we had, I would do everything in my power to keep everything intact," Colangelo told The Associated Press without confirming the decision.
"I'm a strong believer in not upsetting the apple cart."
Krzyzewski led the Americans to a 36-1 record from 2006 to 2008, and a return would give him a chance to fill one of the only holes on his Hall of Fame resume. He is 0-for-2 in the world championships, also finishing third in 1990 with a team of college players.

Awesome. I fucking loved watching the USA team more than anything because it's just so amazing how well we play now. Love Coack K. Love it.
None of you probably care but this forum needs something updated in it.
I've always wanted to see what Coach K could do in the NBA, but I think this is the closest that we'll get to seeing that.

For everyone that cares, Trey Thompkins for Georgia is the leading scorer/rebounder on the USA U19 National Team!
I just could never imagine him leaving Duke for the NBA. Although if the Lakers came calling he would get to coach a team with Kobe Bryant on it so it'd be hard for him not to be successful..
