Personally I think the Nets should make themselves major players in the deadline trade talks. I really don't see them signing any of the big name free agents and their cap space will mean nothing. I think they should get in on the Andre Iguodala sweepstakes. I think in order to get him they would also have to take on Elton Brand and his enormous deal. However I think they have the pieces to make it work. If the Nets offered close to 20 million in expiring deals along with the Sixers choice of Courtney Lee or Terrence Williams I could really see the Sixers thinking about it. Think about it, they would essentially be swapping Iguodala for Lee or Williams and be off the hook with Brand. The Sixers would still have a nice young core of players to work with. They could go with Speights at the 4 and Young starting at the 3. Or Young at the 4 and Speights at the 5. They could end up looking pretty solid with a lineup of...
Holiday/Lou Williams
Lee/Lou Williams
Young/Carney
Speights/Smith
Dalembert/Prezec
Not to bad if you ask me, not to mention the nice pick they will have in this years draft.
The Nets on the other hand add to their seemingly talented yet severely underachieving squad and solidify the starting 5 with proven veteran players. The Nets would end up looking studly on paper with a starting 5 of...
Harris
Iguodala
Williams
Brand
Lopez
It's a trade I think could really benefit both teams for very different reasons. NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
Go ahead and tear it apart now...
I head the Pistons aren't going to be trading Tay or Rip just for expiring contracts. Seems risky, but hopefully they can snag a prospect or a first rounder for each of them instead. Otherwise, I don't like the idea of being stuck with them while we are contending on being the worst team in the league.
I'm not sure how many teams would value them enough to give something worthwhile for them. I mean we pretty much had to give Chauncey away for an expiring, and he has proven to be much more valuable than Rip or Tay.

I actually really like this trade for both sides if Boozer could be convinced to stick around. Plus it saves Utah some $$$. NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
We'll take Crittenton's contract, you can have Brandon Rush for free and some good locker room guys. NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
Have a real PG and a true playmaker and we'll take some bad contracts including Iggy NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
I don't know why I did this other than to get the shooting guard out of that draft class we should have gotten.

We'll take Crittenton's contract, you can have Brandon Rush for free and some good locker room guys. Why would you want to get rid of Brandon Rush here? Especially for a bad contract, older guy.

Have a real PG and a true playmaker and we'll take some bad contracts including Iggy. Ok. The other two deals weren't nearly as bad as this, but this is just really bad. NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
I don't know why I did this other than to get the shooting guard out of that draft class we should have gotten.[B]Nets would't given up this big of an expiring for Murphy
Just my thoughts.

The Pacers would need to get a couple of first for them to even consider this deal. I mean their giving away players who score 132 points against the Raptors.

Big Ben would be a solid replacement though for the rest of the year. He'd fit nicely, especially working with Rasheed again. Detroit could then flip Ray Allen to another team if they chose to, possible Utah for Boozer and Korver or something.
Boston: {{{Rondo/Rip/Pierce/Garnett/Ben Wallace}}}...Sheed and Tay off bench. Rip and Tay could be flip flopped obviously. Sheed and Ben as well I guess.
Detroit: {{{Stuckey/Gordon/Jerebko/Boozer/Perkins}}} with Bynum/Charlie/Big Baby
Utah: {{{Deron/Ray Allen/AK47/Millsap/Okur}}} Brewer/Price of bench(they'd need a big)

Ray Allen will be 35 in July. Rip is 31, will be 32. Tayshaun is 29, will be 30.
I hardly think that is messing with your future. If anything it's extending the run you guys could make. Sure you'd have 4 core Pistons of their championship team, but you'd also have Rondo, Pierce and fucking Garnett with them. Not to mention you could possibly pick Allen up for the MLE after the season is over.
Perkins is 11 and 8. Sure he plays better than those numbers, but he also has the benefit of playing around hall of famers, and if you don't think that helps you're crazy. Maxiell is a small guy, but surround by that type of talent...he could probably contribute nicely as well.
