Default Republicans need a Barack Obama

I admit I'm kind of jealous seeing all of these fanatic young Obama supporters, where no one really gives two shits about the Republican nominee. No excitement, no nothing.

Who is out there for potential Republicans who can bring excitement back?

I can think of some names.

Bobby Jindal
Sarah Palin
David Vitter
Matt Blunt

I understand Bobby Jindal, but David Vitter? He's relatively young and all, but here's nothing about him to get excited about. He's a disgrace. I'd be happy if McCain takes him away from us. Maybe from a Conservative view he would be a rejuvenator.

Tim Pawlenty is a definite possibility. The man is basically a Republican version of John Edwards. I think Sarah Palin might be their best bet, as she's in that Schwarzenegger/Crist wing of the party that will likely be the wing of the party that survives, not to mention the fact that she's a woman. I don't think Jindal can deliver, simply because the biggest reason for the demise of the Republican party is that they've shown a reluctance to run anybody but ideologues, and I think Jindal is too much of an ideologue to win the presidency, same with Vitter.

Finding a Republican version of Obama is easier said than done, as he's probably one of the five best speakers, one of the five best fundraisers, and one of the five most charismatic candidates in U.S. presidential history. I think that Palin and Pawlenty are the right's best proxies of that, though.

Somebody's stance on Abortion really gonna effect your view that much? Why?

And Obama seems very smart about foreign Policy and how to handle a war situation. He's ready to fix the economy as well..what exactly has he done to show otherwise?

I actually think Jindal would be a good VP candidate for McCain. He could appeal to younger voters in the Republican party and has the charisma to energize them. He's a good people person.

I was admitting Obama has a good economic stance.

McCain has proved that he has the knowledge to handle this war we're in carefully enough to where it wont get any worse on our part. Im not saying hes gonna pullout quicky, cause he wouldnt do that, but I feel like he has the knowledge to do the best job.

And yes, abortion is a issue for me. Im very pro-life and I am very against abortion in most cases.

Ron Paul seems too over the top to appeal to the down-to-earth people....thats my opinion. First time I saw him, he reminded me of a loony(yet interesting) old teacher I used to have...

But a president being pro-life is not gonna change anything though so what does it really matter what his view is?

And I dunno why anybody would trust McCain's opinion on war more than Obama's. Just because McCain uses war as his claim to fame doesn't mean it's right. He has and will basically take the Bush approach, and that has not been all that great has it?

And Ron Paul isn't a looney, as old as he is, I honestly just think he's ahead of his time.

Because he has some say into the regulation of it, and it buys into his morality thing too.

Also, McCain may go to war with any nation whos leader is Muslim, like Bush...but unlike Bush, McCain has proven his views on how the war should be fought is much better than most peoples view. There is no doubt in my mind McCain is just as willing as Bush to go to war(negative), but is smart enough in strategy to be successful(positive).

And I didnt say he was a loony, hes just very over the top and the peoples perception on a person is very important, and I think some people see him and think that. Until I learned more about him, he seemed like a guy saying whatever we wanted him to say...of course I know better now, but thats what he puts off, IMO.

No I agree that he comes off as a looney as well. I was just saying, when you actually process what Ron Paul is trying to say most of the time it makes a lot of sense. It's just not stuff we're used to hearin.

Well, Paul says the one who would destroy this country the least is Obama. I'm disappointed in the man.

McCain came home from a Vietnam prison thinking we could still win that war. Really, this is man that feels too much is not enough. He didn't really get to see the combat side of Vietnam and perhaps that pissed him off. He didn't get to see the dissent at home.

Until he can get Shia, Sunni and Kurd straight (most Americans probably still cannot), until he tell us who is the enemy (not "The Terrorists") so we know exactly who we're supposed to defeat - then it's a wrap. No more open ended conflict and hyperactively evolving missions. What the fuck are we doing over there?

He hasn't show an ability to think about the "war," just a desire to fight with "honor."
