I was just arguing about gay marriage, and I was told the following: "Gay marriage would hurt the civil liberties of straight people because it degrades the value of marriage."
I'm arguing gay marriage on Pistons.com too it's pretty hopeless.

Ever since "Meeting" Sarah Palin, I've noticed that most republicans do that thing she does, where she talks for like 40 seconds but literally makes no point, or just really absurd points.
Every argument against gay marriage I've heard has in some point compared Gay Marriage to Interspecies Marriage. "What's next, marrying dogs?". Really? Gay People Are Dogs? That's why they can't get married??? but When I Either that, or the one's who have no clue how to argue just go the "Jesus Sez" Route. Either way, I don't understand how a human being can blatantly lie to themselves like that. I've heard so many shitty arguments over the years, from both Conservatives and Liberals (Just way more Jesus Freak Conservatives. That's basically all it is, a big, old stubborn, WASPy Jesus fan club.)
And of course, you got the Hardcore Liberals blaming George Bush for just about everything. The Economy, our bad image, Katrina, Smog, Busted Condoms, etc. And they'll spend two days creating a movie script about how W planned 9/11, and they both profited from it and blah blah blah. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to smoke themselves crazier than me, but I can truly say I've been outdone many times, some of the shit these guys come with. They could be ITs, but instead they spend their lives butthurt about Politics, which is just a mandatory part of life, those guys need to quit bitching and learn to accept whoever's president. Why not let gays marry? There is no sound argument against it. Unless everybody in the county is forced to get fucked in the ass everytime a gay couple gets married in the area, it really doesn't hurt anybody. I can't believe states give people the power to vote for/against it, its a shame...

I think people are against gay marriage because of their religion. And to those religious people, thats far more than just a good enough reason to be against it.
