The Tigers continue their hot ways by coming into Kansas City and sweeping the three game series. Dominance was the key word this time, outscoring the Royals 33-6. The Tigers got three solid pitching performances from Kenny Rogers, Zach Miner, and Armando Galarraga, and bombarded Royal’s pitching with a balanced offensive effort to improve the club to a 52-49 record.
Game 1: Tigers 19, Royals 4 W: Z. Miner (4-3) L: L. Hochevar (6-8)
This Tigers offense continues to rock, and rock hard. After gaining a solid 7-0 lead in the 5th inning, I ended up shutting the game off thinking there was nothing more to see. Boy was I wrong. The Tigers exploded for a 10 run 8th inning, all of the damage coming off of Royals RP Jimmy Gobble who let up 7 hits, 4 walks, and 10 ER in an inning he’d like to forget. Royals’ shortstop Tony Pena Jr. turned out to be the Royals ace of the night, pitching one inning letting up no hits, runs, or walks, and striking out Pudge Rodriguez to end the inning. In his first start of the year, Zach Miner did spectacular, finishing with a 3-hit 6 inning performance letting in no runs with only one walk.

Game 2: Tigers 7, Royals 1 W: K. Rogers (8-6) L: K. Davies (3-2)
Another blow out win for the Detroit Tigers. Kenny Rogers picked up his 8th win letting up a single run along with a scattered 4 hits. It was a balanced effort on the offensive end with multiple players chipping in and driving in runs. The bullpen was lights out with Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney combining for three innings, no runs, two hits, and five strikeouts.

Game 3: Tigers 7, Royals 1 W: A. Galarraga (8-4) L: Z. Greinke (7-7)
Armando, Armando, Armando. Armando Galarraga rode a perfect game into the 7th inning when the hope for the historic game was shattered by a David DeJesus single to right field. Galarraga still finished strong and got the win for the Tigers. Magglio Ordonez duplicated his performance from the night before, driving in two and leaving no one on base. The Tigers got a rare 1-2-3 inning from Todd Jones to close the inning as well as the game.
