Balkman Traded to Denver

The New York Knicks have traded forward Renaldo Balkman to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for guard Taurean Green, swingman Bobby Jones, and a 2010 second round draft pick. Green and Jones are reportedly expected to be waived by the Knicks prior to the start of the 2008-2009 season.

Balkman, who was selected 20th overall by New York in the 2006 NBA Draft, held averages of 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Knicks this past season. The energetic hustler will add depth to Denver’s bench at both small forward and power forward, and appears to be a cheap replacement to Eduardo Najera, who the Nuggets lost via free agency to the New Jersey Nets this summer.

I don’t like this for the Knicks. They gave up one of the only guys on the team that actually cares about playing hard and winning. They need guys like Balkman, who hustle and do the little things.

Like it for Denver. They get a younger replacement for Najera, and an athlete that will certainly fit their system. I’d definitely call him an upgrade over Yakhouba Diawara, as well.

Yea this makes no sense for the Knicks, I really don’t get it…at all.
