Free agent guard Gordan Giricek is the latest internationally-born player to head back across the waters. Tuesday, the 31-year-old signed a two-year deal with Fenerbache of Turkey.
Since 2002, after spending three seasons overseas after being drafted in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft, Giricek has spent time with five NBA teams (Memphis, Orlando, Utah, Philadelphia, and Phoenix). Throughout his six-year NBA career, which may or may not be over, the Yugoslavian-born wing has appeared in 384 regular season games and has held averages of 9.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game on a 44.2% shooting clip.
Giricek’s contract with Fenerbache contains a player option to return to the NBA in 2009-2010.
