The Orlando Magic have agreed to sign-and-trade unrestricted free agent guard Keyon Dooling to New Jersey in exchange for a $3.3 million trade exception, which New Jersey obtained from the Jason Kidd trade this past February. Dooling’s new contract is three years in length, worth roughly $3 million per season.
The eight-year veteran guard appeared in 72 games for the Magic last season, where he averaged 8.1 points and 1.9 assists per game. Throughout Orlando’s 10-game playoff run, in which they were eliminated by Detroit in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, Dooling tallied 6.6 points per contest while shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc. Dooling, who’s favorite musical artist is Nets partial owner “Jay-Z” (Sean Carter), will add a much-needed defensive mentality to the New Jersey’s second unit.
Something to pay attention to in the coming weeks is the status of Nets guard Marcus Williams, who now appears to be the odd-man out at the point guard position behind Devin Harris and Dooling.

A feisty and competitive combo guard to be apart of New Jersey’s nice and young guard rotation: Carter, Harris, Dooling, Williams, etc.
